Another procedure

Hi, friends. It’s been a difficult recovery so far. I’m still in the hospital. Based on various concerns/symptoms yesterday, I got a CT scan which showed that there is a urine leak that needs to be addressed.

So I’m getting nephrostomy tubes and another drain. These are basically tubes that go into my kidneys to allow most of my urine to flow directly out into two bags behind my back. I’ll be peeing out of my back, essentially 🀣. They’re also placing another drain since there is a collection of fluid in pelvis that needs to drain to avoid infection.

These tubes should be temporary (but at this point, who the heck knows), and will provide time for the bladder and ureters to heal from surgery, and within a few weeks we’ll see where we are.

Not sure how much longer I’ll be in the hospital, but the staff have been amazing, and I’m not rushing anything.

I got to see my girls the past couple days. It was really nice to have one-on-one visits, and they wrote messages and drawings on this special pillow. They are so strong and adaptable, and of course wish I was home, but they are also managing so well amidst all of this. Liam, per usual, is holding it all down, and having rock out dance parties with them on the regular.

And my besties Ali and Julie are here this weekend, coming all the way from Maine and California, so it’s been awesome to have their support.

Love to everyone, and I’ll let you know when I’m home from the hospital.
